I've been working with my employer for 7 years, as of right now I have employee & spouse coverage, I pay about 150 a month (auto deduct from paycheck) and that amount gets me a $5000 deductible and about a $25-$30 co-pay. this morning in a company meeting we were told that our insurance is going to go up (starting June 1st) now for employee and spouse it is going to be $410 a month (everything else the same as before co-pay and deductible) last year my hubby had some medical issues and we have about $7000 in medical bills (on a payment plan we pay $400 a month) so now when my new rate kicks in (in about a week) I will have to pay a total of $800 a month just for medical stuff... I can't afford this. my employer is very upset and wants to shop around but has been shopping around for 8 months now and can't find anything better than this. why is health insurance rising?? I just bought a brand new bike and I live in Florida where bike theft is very big. I want to get some protection as soon as possible. Comprehensive insurance which would cover theft will run me about 730 per year with a 500 dollar deductible. The Lo Jack unit will cost me about 800 installed and it is a one time fee, no monthly payments and it lasts forever. The recovery rates on a bike with lojack are very good from what I've read, I just want to see what everyone thinks. These are the two options and please only answer if you have good knowledge of lojack and how well it works. The only problem is that it doesnt cover things such as damage during theft, storm damage, and things that the insurance would (Then again it still has that 500 or 1000 dollar deductible). So recently an 18 wheeler ran into the back of my car damaging the whole trunk and the force of the truck pushed my car into a post scraping the side of my car. The insurance guy came and just got a call back saying that they want to total my car and pay for it. The car is a black 2002 jetta 1.8 turbo from a small local dealer and has 140,000 miles. Im currently still paying it off and the car cost me $6000. My husband insists since we bought a new (used) car and our son is getting his own car that we need to get insurance quotes. I think we are getting great rates now and dont think it will make much difference but he insists. Anyway the insurance agent I contacted, who I've known since 1st grade, asked for our license numbers to run our driving record (which both should be fine), claim history (we have had one property and one collision claim in the past few years) and our insurance credit score. We have had problems financially in recent years and so our credit score is really bad. We are about to file bankruptcy. I'm wondering what the insurance credit score is and will our current financial situation cause the quotes to be high. I don't even want to mess with getting quotes because I think our rates are very reasonable already but my husband insists we need to shop around. I just don't see how we can save anything when our rates are already just a couple of hundred with full coverage. And I hate the fact that you have to give so much personal information to someone who you are just asking for a quote (in my opinion an estimate) from.

I went on to a price comparison site to check car insurance. For the car I wanted the price was great 320 for 1 year inc breakdown cover. (Insurance group 14). It got me thinking if I got a car in a lower insurance group what the price difference would be. So I entered the exact same details apart from a car in insurance group 2. Car insurance, full coverage versus liability?

I drive a 98 Chevy Suburban, because it has a lien holder (bank) it has had full coverage insurance the life of the loan. Next month when we get our tax refund we plan to pay it off, not that much owed. Due to it's age wouldn't it be logical to drop the full coverage down to liability insurance. I know with it being that old the full coverage insurance would hardly pay out anything if it was a total loss anyway.
